Friday Music - August 1
A great mix this week fostered by all the free shows this summer. Ghostland Observatory being the best so far of the mix. Saw them at their free show in Prospect Park a week or so ago along with my wife, mother-in-law, and two brothers-in-law. It was the first concert for both the bros, how cool is that? If your first concert was a Brooklyn indy show? My first show was Green Day at Nassau Colliseum. It was cool too...then...I suppose.
This week's list features:
- Ghostland Observatory
- MGMT
- Mooney Suzuki
- Muggabears
- Joan of Arc
- Ponytail
- Black Moth Super Rainbow

My first was They Might Be Giants at Worcester Polytech circa 97/98.
In late 03/early 04 I dated a WPI alum who was an A/V guy while he was there and worked the show that night.
WEIRD.
I am so glad you went to the Ghostland Observatory concert and enjoyed it. Those Texas boys sure know how to put on a good show. As for first concerts, I believe mine was HFStival '97. The band that I was most interested in at the fest was The Prodigy.
my first festival was lollapalooza 1995, featuring beck, cypress hill, sonic youth, mighty mighty bosstones. awesome shows. and i just met a guy last night who was at the same concert!
randomly, my favorite bands from those days are now playing together again at this year's lollapalooza: nin, rage, and radiohead!
